Rochford Council is a government body responsible for delivering district services and sharing key information with residents of the Rochford area. Its responsibilities cover a wide range of areas, including local economic development, tourism, housing, and employment. Due to the volume of work, the council holds regular meetings and discussions, which were previously streamed using a single camera.
Although these streams provided public access to the meetings, they offered only a basic view. Key elements like shared computer content and visual aids such as diagrams were not visible, and there was no way to automatically highlight active speakers without manually adjusting the camera. To enhance the quality of its broadcasts, the council sought a more effective streaming solution. With the help of CUK Group and system integrator Nuway, they identified the AREC DS4CU as the perfect fit for their needs.
The DS4CU is a speaker tracking station that supports up to four video inputs via HDMI, VGA, or network connections. It integrates seamlessly with many leading discussion systems, including those from Audio Technica, Shure, Bosch, Televic, and others. The station offers customizable layouts, dynamic overlays and backgrounds, and precise PTZ camera control tailored to each speaker, all in fully automatic mode. These capabilities enable Rochford Council to clearly show the current speaker, alternate camera angles to capture councillors across the chamber, and incorporate various computer-based visuals into the livestream.
